GENERAL FORECAST

Year of the Earth Rat SymbolDuring the Year of the Water Dragon, imagine sweeping developments to occur, not unlike a giant wave that changes lives in many ways, among them being spiritual, emotional, political, economic, social and cultural.  The seeds were planted last year during the protests globally  and with the presence of the water,  will continue to transform the world. The mythical dragon in Chinese culture is a mighty positive symbol of earth that represents, spring, harmony,  family, new beginnings and ventures.

Water has in human civilization always represented cleansing of some sort, whether it be flood that washes away everything in its path, carving new paths or the element that provides the vital component to foster new growth from the earth. It can be the tsunami of destruction or the open dam that brings progress, reform and prosperity.  Several of the most devastating earthquakes, such as those in Alaska, China  and the USSR occurred during the dragon years so we can expect more earth and water-related natural calamities around the world.

Water symbolizes creativity so this is a year for innovation, intelligence, courage, skill, knowledge, energy and enthusiasm and Dragon year people excel in the arts and invention: Beethoven, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Tom Cruise, Paul McCartney, Michael Douglas, Kate Middleton and Gwyneth Paltrow are among them.

Water is also associated with the kidneys, immune and urinary systems as well as sexual organs so take care of these to stay in good health.  Watch your heart, stomach and cells health and use the hand sanitizer and wash your hands often to prevent viral and bacterial infections.

Understanding the five element relationships helps us to predict how your business or profession will fare in the Year of the Dragon.  Those that are related to the element of earth (dragon) and wood (nourished by Water) will see growth and profits.  Earth represented by property, ceramics/pottery/stone/building materials, security and insurance and wood represented by textiles/fashion/garments, books/knowledge/learning/educational institutions, lumber/herbs/handicrafts, flori and agriculture, coffee/tea/rubber/rice/bamboo. Doing fairly this year would be jewelry/metal manufacturing of any kind, medical supplies and hardware. Because earth dams water, so will the transportation/travel/tourism/communications industries, wine and breweries be held back due to competition.   Meanwhile water extinguishes fire so those industries related to this element will be flat: oil/fuel, cosmetics, nuclear power, aviation, computers and entertainment.
